(Greenock) Braveheart Day Tour

Loch Lomond, The Trossachs National Park and Stirling Castle

Once we depart the quayside, our first stop of the day is the gorgeous Highland village of Luss. Situated on the shore of Loch Lomond, it is a beautiful conservation village, and it stands on the fault line that splits Scotland, from the Lowlands to the Highlands. From Luss we shall then travel through the beauty and tranquillity of the Trossachs National Park. Stunningly beautiful with its numerous lochs and it’s forest covered mountains. You will also have time to wander around the picturesque highland village of Callander. After lunch, our next stop is a (photo) stop for Doune Castle (made famous by the Monty Python boys and Outlander story.) and then it's onto Stirling Castle, it is historically and without doubt one of the most important castles in Scotland. Home of the Stuart Kings and Mary Queen of Scots, you too can explore this grand castle where Knights, nobles and foreign ambassadors once flocked to the Royal Court at Stirling Castle to revel in the castle’s grandeur.

from here, through the countryside back to your ship.

Once you have disembarked in Greenock, for your Stirling Castle and Loch Lomond day tour, your guide will be waiting for you, and then, your day, your way, will begin.

We will start by travelling through the heart of Scotland's largest city, Glasgow. From here it is just a short drive to our first stop of the day, the stunning Stirling Castle. Stirling Castle is in the top 2 of the grandest of Scotland's castles, and one of the most popular visitor attractions in the country. 250 feet above the plain on an extinct volcano, Stirling became the strategic military key to the kingdom during the 13th and 14th century Wars of Independence and was the favourite royal residence of many of the Stuart Monarchs. when you are here, and you go into the castle, you will be following in the same footsteps as Mary Queen of Scots, Robert the Bruce and William Wallace, to name but a few.

For some of you who do not wish to go to the castle, I can take you to the Wallace Monument, 220 ft high. Inside the tower is William Wallace's sword, all 5' 4" from tip to tip. The tower stands on the Abbey Craig, a volcanic crag above Cambuskenneth Abbey, from which Wallace stood and watched the gathering of the army of King Edward I of England, just before the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297.

From here, we are only a short drive to Loch Lomond and a wee walk up to Craigie Fort, with stunning views from the Lowlands to the Highlands.

From here it's just a wee drive back to your ship.
